Sarah's approach to teaching is always with consideration to the individual. She is dedicated to exploring a student's own unique experience of the physical. Students work to uncover a creative understanding of themselves as functional, effective, and healthy moving bodies. Her years of teaching dance to various ages and her experience creating choreographic works continues to inform her teaching in the mind-body field.
In addition to teaching classical ballet and modern dance, Sarah choreographs dance works for the stage and beyond, and practices turntablism. She co-produced Merge with Motion in 2009 and has been spotted spinning records at the OCSC, Bowbarr, Pinhook, Milltown, and MotorCo.
Tara House graduated from UNC-CH in 1992 with a BA in Political Science. While living in Chapel Hill, she studied dance with Rebecca Amis Lawson who inspired her to follow her dancer’s spirit to NYC.
For the next six years, she studied contemporary dance, focusing on Simonson Technique. Lynn Simonson created this contemporary modern jazz technique, which embraces each student's unique physical parameters and prepares their bodies for dance without injury. This experience shaped how Tara would spend the next decade of her life. Tara graduated from the Body Therapy Institute and became a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist (NC # 1841) in 2000. She worked at The Duke Diet and Fitness Center for 11 years as the Massage Therapy Director and created a movement education program. In 2003,
